A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting a lavender farm in the Niagara region of Ontario. Busy Bees Gardens is the first of its kind in an area known for its fruit trees and vineyards.  I find this really exciting since I live an hour away. Could this be the beginning of an essential oil industry located so close to home? Currently I have to source most of my essential oils from Europe so the idea of having locally grown essential oils and hydrosols in my products is very exciting.

As we approached Busy Bees Gardens, I could see rows and rows of lavender growing as well as a large greenhouse with a small boutique attached. As we walked in, we were warmly greeted by co-owner Robert who told us we were just in time for a tour he was conducting. We were taken into the greenhouse where the scent and sight of herbs growing from the ground were everywhere. Robert showed us several types of lavender, lemongrass, rose geranium, and rosemary. At the end of the tour, we were able to witness the distillation process in their one-of-a-kind glass still where we could see tons of lavender being heated up to create the heavenly lavender essential oil and hydrosol (the water portion of the process).

After the tour, we landed in the lavender boutique where Robert’s partner, Melissa was available to answer any questions about the beautiful products lining the shelves. I purchased their Rose Geranium Liquid Hand Soap. Every time I use it, I feel uplifted by the lovely aroma and proud that my province could create such a high quality essential oil. I also bought lavender sponge toffee. Absolutely delightful. They have a huge selection of bath, body and culinary treats, all made with the herbs that they have grown.

If you are in the region, you must visit this wonderful attraction. I am excited to see this unique farm grow and to hopefully be one of their loyal wholesale clients in the future.

It’s been an embarrassingly long time since I last posted on this blog. It’s been a very busy couple of months but I feel like I am back in the swing of things now and am excited to prepare for the holiday season.

Lots of exciting products to share with you. We introduced our 100% Organic Argan Oil in September. It is an anti-aging beauty secret from Morocco that does wonders for your face and hair. I put a few drops on my face before I go to bed and when I wake up there is a gorgeous glow to my skin – love it!

The eye cream is coming out very soon. There have been some unexpected delays and I apologize since many people were promised a September debut. I have been using it and it is so refreshing and rehydrating. It is made with organic grapeseed oil (a rare find) that gives the cream a subtle wine aroma. My goal with this eye treatment is to create something that is anti-puff, anti-aging and anti-dark circles. I can’t wait to hear your feedback.

We are reintroducing a favorite right before the holidays – our sensual Chai Brown Sugar Scrub. It is a fabulous gift and anyone that has used it know how blissful it feels and smells on your body. An organic cane sugar blended with shea butter and olive oil infused with the essential oils of cinnamon, ginger, clove and cardamom. YUM.

We are also hoping to reintroduce our Twinkle Toes Foot Lotion. Dry, itchy feet are common in the winter months and this minty lotion is ideal for providing the refreshing hydration that your feet crave.

I must admit that these are some ambitious promises to be made. I really hope that everything runs smoothly and that all will be available within a few weeks *fingers crossed*.

Enjoy your beautiful autumn days!

Jessica
